Woman runs 310 miles in three days without sleeping

x174_0cdd_9A New Zealand woman set a world record for the longest run without sleep earlier this week. Kim Allan ran 86 hours, 11, minutes, and 9 seconds, covering 310 miles to break the previous record of 301 miles.

Allan cut off the top of her shoes to deal with terrible blisters, and was plagued by the heat — and you know, not sleeping.

Mark Gray, Allan’s coach, explained to The New Zealand Herald.

“The heat is a problem and she’s had a few stomach problems.”

The hardest running time was between 3am and 5am, “when the body clock wants to sleep”.

Allan used the run as a fundraiser for the New Zealand Spinal Trust. The Herald reports that she raised over $7000 during the record setting run.

“It’s all a bit surreal at the moment. I’m going through some of the Facebook things on my page and when you see posts about a New Zealand woman beating the world record, I’m like, ‘oh my gosh, that’s me they’re talking about’,” Allan said.
